Prospera Centre offers a variety of lessons and camps. Whether you’re 3 years old and just stepping onto the ice for the first time or if you’ve been playing for years, this is where to spend your time refining your skills!
ADULT & TOT
1. SNOWFLAKES This is a parent/guardian participation class, as the adult will be on the ice with the child, working alongside our qualified instructors.
Snowflakes will learn how to become comfortable with the ice surface, including learning about ice safety, and falling/getting up without assistance.
Class ratio: Maximum of 4 pairs of adults/tots per instructors.

BEGINNER Ages 3-5
1. ICE CUBES This level is suited for first-time, "scared stiff" skaters who need a little extra attention on the ice. Ice Cubes will focus on ice orientation, balance skills and walking,

2. ICICLES After graduating from Ice Cubes, Icicles will focus on moving across the width of the ice, two-foot glides, and balancing on one foot.

3. ICEBERGS Icebergs include skaters who are ready to take their skating to the next level, and will focus on snowplow stops, backwards movement and introduction to edges.

BEGINNER Ages 6+
1. SNOWBALLS This level is suited for first-time skaters. Snowballs will focus on balance and posture, basic on-ice movements and changing direction while on the ice.

2. BLIZZARDS This Blizzards will focus on skating across the width of the ice, two-foot glides and T-pushes.

3. AVALANCHES Avalanches are able to skate acrosss the width of the ice, and are preparing for Penguins! Avalanches will focus on transitioning from T-pushes to glides, backwards movements and inside/outside edges.

INTERMEDIATE Youth up to 12 years
1. PENGUINS Penguins have graduated from beginner skating and will focus on backwards skating, advanced balance skills, and utilizing both edges.

2. ARCTIC FOXES Between Penguins and Polar Bears, Arctic Foxes are preparing for the most advanced level of intermediate skating. Arctic Foxes will focus on hockey stops, forward slaloming and backwards edges.

3. POLAR BEARS Polar Bears represent the peak of intermediate skating! Polar Bears focus on advanced forward and backward movement, including crossovers and changing direction.

PROFICIENT Youth up to 12 years
1. RUBY Ruby skaters who have completed the Intermediate program and are looking for their next challenge. Learn how to turn from forwards to backwards and vice-versa, and manage tight turns.

2. AMBER Once mastering the Ruby level, Amber skaters will learn new balance and turning manoeuvres, two foot jumps, and edging sequences.

3. EMERALD Emerald level skaters will work on increasingly difficult turning skills, crossovers, and backwards skating.

4. DIAMOND The final level is designed to reinforce and perfect skills learned throughout the previous levels. Skaters will be able to skate fast forwards and backwards around the ice, perform crossovers and easily change directions. Upon completing the Diamond level, skaters will be well prepared to enter either a basic figure skating program or hockey program.
